Tradition and custom
Faith, hope, love
Be it to go to church, for events or celebrations, people get together on the village square. In Schenna especially, the Burggrafenamt "tracht", or traditional costume, is still very popular, and thanks to its simplicity is much worn on feast days.
When you think of South Tyrol, then you also think of the blue apron that is worn on a daily basis by farmers, but which has nothing in common with the conventional "tracht" apron.
The Törggelen, a festival that fits perfectly with the colourful autumn atmosphere, is ideal for seeing out the season and is as popular among visitors as it is with the locals. Essential parts of the festival are sweet roast chestnuts, speck bacon and cheese, Vinschgerlen bread rolls and doughnuts, good company and a dose of humour.
The locals keep their homeland in their hearts by nurturing their traditions like precious commodities.
